Creating workplace food environments that work for operators, clients and customers
Our involvement can begin with the replacement of a single item of equipment or extend through to a complete, multi-disciplinary workplace restaurant, kitchen and front-of-house design-and-build project.
Our workplace dining services include:
- Workplace restaurant, café and coffee-space design
- Commercial kitchens and food production areas
- Serveries, counters and food concepts
- Grab-and-go and all-day food offers
- Front-of-house finishes, furniture and lighting
- One-off equipment replacement
- Kitchen and restaurant refurbishment
- Revit and BIM design coordination
- Equipment specification and procurement
- Full project delivery and installation
- Commissioning and handover
- Planned maintenance and reactive service
- Asset management and lifecycle planning
Chef-led and operator-focused
We design around how food is prepared, presented and served, while also considering the experience of the customer using the space
Our team works to understand:
- The menu and food production requirements
- Customer flow and queue management
- Speed of service
- Workplace culture and environment
- Flexibility throughout the day
- Cleaning and maintenance requirements
- Team comfort and wellbeing
- Energy use and operating cost
Matching value to the brief and investment
CHR’s Gold, Silver and Bronze specification model allows us to match the proposed solution to the operational brief and available investment.
The design intent remains consistent, but the level of engineering, equipment features, resilience and expected lifecycle can be adjusted transparently.
This gives operators and clients a clear understanding of the relationship between initial investment, performance, reliability, energy efficiency, maintenance exposure, expected asset life and long-term value.
Sustainable performance supported by evidence
CHR has designed fully electric, no-gas kitchens since 2010.
Our approach has developed through EcoChef, energy optimisation, connected kitchens and now CKI, Commercial Kitchen Intelligence.
CKI has been developed for both retrofit and future-fit projects. Using open API technology, it can connect asset information, service, maintenance, HACCP, energy performance and ESG reporting without tying the client to a single equipment manufacturer.
It can also operate independently of the client’s core IT network, subject to individual site security requirements.
This allows contract caterers and their clients to move beyond general sustainability claims and use clear operational information to support service, maintenance, capital planning, lifecycle decisions and ESG reporting.
National capability with personal responsibility
Based in Lancashire and working across the UK, CHR supports projects ranging from urgent equipment replacement to complex, multi-disciplinary design-and-build schemes.
Our largest completed project to date was valued at approximately £1.3 million, but every project receives the same level of care, technical competence and personal responsibility, regardless of size.
CHR helps contract caterers create workplace food environments that deliver great service today while protecting performance, investment and sustainability over the long term.
