CHR Team Receive Catering Insight Recognition

Catering Insight has published its second annual Power List supplement, which distils the 50 top movers and shakers of distributor representatives over the past 12 months into one comprehensive list.

This has been a tough process and there was much anguishing about who out of the nominations that flooded in from you should be included in the final 50.

Our MD Paul Neville was Recognised for his leadership quality’s after taking up the roll formally owned by his dad Ron Neville , After steering the company to further success and winning the CEDA grand Prix award Small Project category as well as receiving the outstanding achievement in the CEDA Grand prix medium category .

CHR – Eco-Chef Heads For Fine Dining Lakes Hotel Restaurant

CHR Foodservice Equipment, commercial catering scheme designer and supplier, has been chosen to carry out a sustainable kitchen project centred around its Eco-Chef GB concept, to serve a fine dining restaurant at the Forest Side Hotel in the Lake District.

Forest Side in Grasmere has been purchased by Andrew Wildsmith, who also runs The Ryebeck in Bowness and Hipping Hall in Kirkby Lonsdale, as a luxury boutique hotel with a fine dining facility headed up by award-winning local chef Kevin Tickle, previously at Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume and Rogan and Company in Cartmel.  Andrew aims to make the restaurant one of the best in the country and is spending a total for £4.5 million renovating the 21 bedroom premises.

CHR, which specialises in sustainable kitchen design and installation, is fast becoming the installer of choice in gastronomic havens in the Lakes with projects already completed and in action at: Simon Rogan’s l’Enclume in Cartmel; The Drunken Duck, Ambleside; The Castle Dairy, Kendal and The Old Stamphouse, Ambleside. CHR – On The Road To Cleethorpes Pier

CHR Foodservice Equipment, designer of the British-built, super energy efficient Eco-Chef bespoke cooking suite, has been called in to design and install the kitchens at the newly refurbished The Pier, Cleethorpes. The Pier, Cleethorpes, originally built at a cost of £80,000 and opened in 1873, has seen many changes of use over its lifetime, being known predominantly as a nightclub in recent years, before it closed in 2012.

It was subsequently purchased by local businessman Bryan Huxford who has put in place a management team to steer the venue back to its family values, whilst looking to provide quality corporate facilities for conferences and exhibitions.

Our aim is for the pier to be a successful part of the regeneration of Cleethorpes, to be a resource for locals and to encourage more visitors to the town and support local businesses,” says managing director Simon Huxford. “We feel it is time to put something back into the community. “The Pier will replace the gap left in the entertainment market by the closure of the Winter Gardens.

CHR – Sorting The Kitchens For Six Best Street Traders at Spinningfields

CHR Foodservice Equipment, commercial catering scheme designer and supplier, has been commissioned to fit out six individual restaurants on behalf of innovative dining concept, The Kitchens, Leftbank, Spinningfields. Over the next twelve months the six finalists will be judged by Spinningfields developer Allied London and The Kitchens board via a range of criteria including turnover, brand and overall concept. The winner will secure further backing, mentoring and investment from Allied London.

The finalists were judged by The Kitchen board, which comprises some of the country’s most esteemed hospitality experts with Bangers and Bacon, Chaat Cart, Hip Hop Chip Shop, Mumma Schnitzel, Wholesome and Raw and Yakumama chosen from hundreds of hopeful start-ups. Paul Neville of CHR was more than happy to take on The Kitchens project saying: “This is very much a local project by and for local people (CHR itself is just down the road at Preston) and we were determined to ensure we kept everything going into The Kitchens very much in that spirit.

CHR Gets The Green Light For Sustainable Swinton Park Project

CHR Foodservice Equipment has been called in to design and install a comprehensive, locally sourced eco kitchen at the prestigious Swinton Park Country Club and Spa at Masham in North Yorkshire.

Owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family since the 1880s, Swinton Park is a Four AA Red Star luxury castle hotel set within a spectacular 20,000-acre estate. Facilities include 31 rooms and suites, the award-winning Samuel’s Restaurant, a cookery school, a Bird of Prey Centre, nine hole Golf Course and the Swinton Bivouac luxury campsite and bistro café

Last year Swinton Park applied for planning permission for a 2,700m2 extension to incorporate a full-service Country Club and Spa with a 40-seat conservatory restaurant and a coffee shop. The £5.5 million project is now under way and CHR has been tasked with providing an eco kitchen par excellence for the Grade 2 listed castle.

Two Rising Stars At Local company CHR Foodservice Equipment

Preston based foodservice equipment distributor CHR announce not one, but two of its staff are shortlisted in the new CEDA award category ‘Rising Stars’.  Amy Hartnett and Alex Sweetlove will join three other shortlisted nominees to find out who takes the coveted award at the CEDA conference on 24 April.

The company who are always looking to strengthen their highly successful team with good people are dedicated to the training and development of staff, and this industry recognition is just reward for all Alex and Amy’s hard work.

Ex-graduate Amy joined CHR in November 2012 working in customer service liaison, quickly progressing to Project Coordinator responsible for managing projects internally, from order through to completion, and with a friendly organised approach Amy is the ‘go-to’ contact for customers.  Amy also took on the role of putting the company through its paces in order to achieve ISO 14001 and 18001 environment, health and safety standards accreditation.

Major CEDA Awards Coup For CHR’s Ron Neville

Ron Neville, founder and managing director of Preston-based CHR Foodservice Equipment was honoured at the recent Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA) Grand Prix Awards 2016.

Ron was the hugely popular recipient of the CEDA 2016 Industry Personality Award presented by outgoing CEDA chairman Jack Sharkey. Not only did Ron walk away with the Personality Award, he also saw CHR win the Small.

Project Award for an energy-saving kitchen for Martel Smith at The Dawnay Arms, Newton on Ouse. Ron established CHR in 1993 with his wife Ann Neville, as a family business, drawing on his vast experience in the food service industry.

Midsummer House Dream

When CHR Foodservice Equipment was called into Daniel Clifford’s double-Michelin starred Midsummer House it was to design and install a new eco kitchen – but one with a big difference.

The task was to convert a five year old Bonnet range, which cost more than £100,000 when it was first commissioned, into an Eco-chef all-electric range with inbuilt SMART energy meter.

Midsummer House Cambridge is the only 2 Star Michelin Restaurant in East Anglia and this year was voted the second best restaurant in the world by TripAdvisor.  Daniel spent the first 12 years of his career and training in some of the best restaurants in the UK and France, and took over at Midsummer House in August 1998. The venue was awarded its first Michelin Star in 2002 followed by the second in 2005 and currently has 5 AA Rosettes and scores 8/10 in the Good Food Guide.

Daniel Clifford’s quest for culinary perfection has taken the restaurant to another level since he took over; his cooking has a modern focus underpinned by classical French technique offering seriously sophisticated food with dishes arriving ‘dressed to thrill’. Superb-quality ingredients, advanced technique and technical prowess add the wow-factor to the menus and allow flavours to shine, while offering unexpected texture contrasts and combinations to guests.

LCCC Bowled Over By CHR

Waving the flag for Lancastrian excellence, Preston-based CHR Foodservice Equipment has been recognised in a prestigious awards ceremony recognising the company’s determination to excel for its clients.

CHR’s work with Lancashire County Cricket Club designing and installing the hospitality facilities and kitchens at the famous Emirates Old Trafford ground has earned it an industry award for Outstanding Customer Service 2014.

Not only was the Club bowled over by the Lancashire company’s professionalism and exceptional customer service, judges at the annual Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA) Grand Prix Awards were too. The awards bring together the cream of the UK’s commercial kitchen and restaurant specifiers, designers and installers.
