Brief

Eugene O’Callaghan, Senior Operations Manager, Armitage Construction was already delivering a package of works at Stepping Hill Hospital when the late decision came to take the opportunity to update and modernise the café servery area.  Eugene called on CHR and we stepped in to help.

Designing from a Distance

Given the guidelines, we took advantage of technologies such as Zoom to hold design meetings remotely.  The project was pretty much entirely designed this way, a testament to the levels of communication from everyone involved.


Staying Safe

When the time came to conduct final site surveys, delivery and installation routes, CHR attended fully in compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of others working on site and our own staff.


Completion and Handover

From initial conversation to handing over the project took just 2 months. Our MD Paul Neville led the way in ensuring the supply chain was able to draw and manufacture everything in as short a time as possible so that the hospital could get back to 100% capacity as early as possible. Without compromising on the quality we demand for our customers.

“At the start of the first lockdown in March 2020,  I approached CHR to establish if they could assist in the design and fit out of a new servery area at the Main Restaurant at Stepping Hill Hospital, in Stockport.

 The servery area replacement was a late call by our client which had to be completed within a tight programme. We required a proactive response from our supply chain partners.

 The response from CHR was excellent. Despite the difficulties everyone was experiencing with Covid, it was a pleasure to work with a proactive and collaborative specialist contractor.  

 Initial meetings held via Zoom quickly followed up by Covid secure site visits to establish final layouts, installation routes and programme. The whole process was trouble free.

 The result is a thoroughly modern and fit for purpose environment for the catering team, hospital users and staff within a very short time frame. Any minor changes on site were dealt with quickly and without difficulties.
