The new brief included a two storey facility including impressive demonstration kitchens with 18 student work stations, bakery station, further kitchen areas and updated Colours restaurant and food court area.  Works also included design and space planning, below ground drainage system, ventilation design and all mechanical and electrical works.

As the project progressed, our  close working relationship with the college, and previous success, made us the obvious choice to complete the catering work.

Paul Neville, CHR  director, said: “The food service element of the design and build project had encountered delays and spiralling costs.  We were brought in and our knowledge of the building, existing equipment and relationship with the catering team meant we could revise the plans to incorporate existing equipment to significantly reduce the overall costs.

Terry Lavin, head of catering at St Helens College, said: “The results are breathtaking! It really is the best foodservice environment I have ever seen.”

The savings CHR made for St Helens College has helped the project management team secure funding for the second phase of the project.
