The Client

Out jogging one day, Sara Presley, a furniture and interior designer, spotted a semi-derelict Georgian mansion, saw its hotel potential and bought it. After a £5 million restoration, it has recently been named the north of England’s best hotel for interior design. The grade II listed building has a prime position in Lindley, a bustling little town on the leafy outskirts of Huddersfield, and features 11 luxurious bedrooms, a range of bars, cafés and restaurants, a roof terrace and a fitness suite. There’s a significant “wow” factor, blending Chinese and Japanese influences with glitz and glamour, artfully spotlit vases with locally sourced fabrics; even the gents’ loo feels like a design statement’.

The Brief

CHR was tasked with looking at the overall offering for the hotel, working closely with John and the team, we looked at all aspects of the operation from deliveries and preparation through to waste management.

Because it was a new hotel, space had to be designed with flexibility. Ease of cleaning is always at the forefront, especially in a small space. All the equipment and fabrication is plinth mounted so cleaning up at the end of the shift is an easy task.
