With a 25 year history, CHR Equipment has the proven reliability to deliver what is required, when required, on time, to ‘best value practice' and in budget. Our ethos is to help chefs deliver, consistently, whether a new build or refurbishment.

Many of our clients use us time and again, comfortable in the high level of personal service we offer and our ability to accommodate their needs.

Our solutions continue to evolve, keeping at the forefront of technologies. As a result, we have developed strategies using water bath cooking (sous vide), and have now achieved a virtually panless kitchen. The introduction of metered kitchens enables us and our clients to precisely monitor and control costs/head. We have created sustainable approaches which reduce fuel bills and your carbon footprint.

Our first project was Paul Heathcote’s at Longridge: the equipment we installed- one of the first made-to-measure ranges in the north of England- is still in operation today, almost 20 years on!

One of our latest installations, The Freemasons at Wiswell, already a Michelin-honoured establishment, delivers a state-of-art kitchen which has improved workflow and enhanced the consistency of quality.

Other projects include Bibis Palace in Leeds, one of the largest Italian restaurants in the UK, High Street chains Via Tiggis and Burlingtons…

Glenridding hotel
When John came to speak to CHR about replacing his old kitchen, he had quite an unusual story to tell...
The main production kitchen is located in the basement of the hotel and runs along side the picturess stream in Glenridding itself.But when the snow arrives then thaws, the levels of the steam would rise so high it would flood the kitchen by approx two feet! Working in the 180 year old building with 5ft thick walls, CHR adapted a new drainage system in to the kitchen designed to allow water in at a lower level , but to ensure it would not rise over 100mm in depth.

Everything in the kitchen was then installed on 150 mm stainless steel plinths to ensure the next time the snow came, the hotel only needed a mop, not the insurance broker!

Following the success of the Kitchen CHR was awarded the contract to fit out Kilners Coffee Bar and Internet Café in the adjacent building, to offer fresh pastries ,cakes and light snacks all year round.

This Restaurant was the only Restaurant to ever receive the Egon Ronay Kitchen of the Year award which was just after we installed the kitchen.

CHR provided a new bespoke cooking suit to the exact requirments of Germain and his Team,

Now under new ownership with Colin, CHR have just been back to service the cooker which is still in operation 14 years on.

Frances Atkins is a fellow of the Masterchefs of Great Britain and is one of only six female Michelin starred chefs in the UK. She has held one Michelin star continuously since 2003

CHR worked with Frances back in 2002 a year before it won its star, with the central cooking stove/ island range being hand built by CHR to chef Frances Atkins’ own specification, and is also annually serviced (by the same engineer who originally fitted it).
Ron Neville, managing director of the kitchen company, wryly observes, “We can’t make a bad chef good, but we can make any chef consistent! It’s a partnership, designing and installing the most appropriate equipment for each scenario, so it can deliver consistently and profitably. The Yorke Arms is a prime example: the kitchen we delivered for Frances combined good equipment such as a small range, a chargrill and fryer that were already there when she took over, integrated with items such as the 2.3m one piece cooking stove designed to her exact needs.”
It’s good to see that Frances and the team at the york arms have managed to retian her star ever since the award in 2003.

CHR has years of experience in the education sector, delivering effective kitchens for primary schools through to colleges of further education. In this market more than any other, budgets are a primary concern for our clients- a concern we appreciate: at one college refurbishment, we utilized £¼m of existing, still efficient, equipment from a kitchen we first installed 12 years previously in the new design, thus helping the establishment to secure funding for further upgrading.

Home of the Grand National: CHR was handed the task of delivering a £1/2 m project inside 10 weeks, with the end date being The Grand National. You will be pleased to read we got our nose in front and crossed the line in first place, creating central production kitchens in two new Grand Stands and associated works packages

Canterbury Cathedral

The Cathedral is both a holy place and part of a World Heritage Site. Our work included a new catering facility, new counters and associated works within this Grade I listed building
 
       
Gorton Monastery
gorton monastery The historic buildings were built between 1863 and 1872 by Franciscan monks who had come to Manchester in 1861 to serve the local Catholic community. Designed by Edward Pugin, whose father helped design the houses of Parliament, Gorton Monastery is considered one of his finest masterpieces. It was put on the World Monuments Fund Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World in 1997, alongside Pompeii, Macchu Picchu, The Valley of the Kings, and the Taj Mahal. CHR worked closely with the design team and master chef Brian Mellor to produce a function kitchen capable of delivering 500 meals.  
       
Royal Birkdale Golf Club
royal birkdale golf club Royal Birkdale is one of Britain’s finest golf clubs, voted the number 1 course to play in Britain and among the finest in the world. CHR was asked to sort out a poor ware washing area that had only recently been fitted. We took it from a bogie to a birdie in no time at all.  
       
DW Stadium-Wigan
dw stadium wigan CHR working with on site caterers re-designed the whole ground catering areas to improve speed of service and average spend per head. From a cup of Bovril to a pint, hot dog to the pie, from home support to the away support, the ground catering was transformed to one of the best spend per head in today’s stadia , The really interesting part of this project was the pie ovens: after manufacturing a mock up oven designed to heat up pastry items such as pies in under 40 mins using a 13 amp plug n play unit. The results are so good, now these pie ovens are now installed at other grounds and include other works by CHR at, Liverpool FC, Everton FC, Oldham FC, Rochdale FC, Lancashire county cricket club- ground catering, Blackburn FC, Hull City Football Club, Burnley Football Club  
       
Leigh Sports Village
leigh sports village Leigh Sports Village Stadium is a multi-million pound complex and has a spectator capacity of 11,000. CHR was asked to design the ground catering areas which comprised ten food and beverage outlets across the stadia. CHR also provided the whole fit out, installing new floors, ceilings and running all the first and second fix services to complement the design.  
       
Morecambe Football Club- Globe Arena
morcambe fc With budgets on the new building running out, CHR came up with an unusual solution to the fit out of the central production kitchen and Bars. After winning an award for outstanding customer service on the Gold Marquee project for Lancashire County Cricket Club (linked), we advised MFC that this equipment was “for sale”. This helped Morecambe, and simultaneously gave LCCC a return on its original investment, while ensuring the globe arena could be developed, as they required. The globe area is now boasts one of the best conferences and banqueting in Morecambe as well as providing an excellent match day experience  
       
Cadbury World
cadburys world A new kitchen to cater for a 40% growth in visitor numbers to the UK’s only purpose-built visitor centre dedicated to chocolate is delivering ‘green’ values- with a 30% saving in energy consumption alongside increased production capacity. Winner of the 2011 CEDA Awards, for Sustainability  
       
Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art
mima CHR was handed the task of designing and installing a café to suite this fantasic modern arts attraction, working with world- reknowned practice Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects. The building includes five gallery spaces, two project spaces, an education space, a flexible event space, two collection stores, a conservation studio, a café, a shop, an impressive roof terrace with views across Middlesbrough and the North Yorkshire Moors, with purpose built sound space, and a garden. The servery counter and the environment we helped create for the visitors café is one we that reflects the building in its entirety  
       
Knowsley Hall
knowsley hall At the heart of the Estate and the Stanley family is Knowsley Hall, Merseyside’s only stately home. It is believed that a building of sorts has been on the current Hall’s site since the 12th century, but the earliest part of today’s building dates from about 1500. CHR was hired to sort out the age old kitchen , in this fantasic historic building.  
       
Liverpool St Georges Hall
st georges hall liverpool St George's Hall is widely regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world and is a Grade I listed building. CHR was handed the job to design and install the new production kitchen within this very impressive historic building, and later added the tea-shop to its scope of works.
