Delivering Star Quality in the Kitchen- Year on Year

When you are aiming to gain- and retain- star ratings, consistency in the kitchen becomes even more important. Working with commercial kitchen company CHR Equipment is proving to be a winning strategy….
One of the top 10 gourmet hotels in the 2011 Good Hotel Guide, The Star Inn at Harome, and Michelin starred The Yorke Arms are just two establishments proving the point. CHR Equipment designed and installed The Star’s kitchen in its hotel prior to its success; The Yorke Arms’ kitchen was installed in 2002, a year before it won its star, with the central cooking stove/ island range being hand built by CHR to chef Frances Atkins’ own specification, and is also annually serviced (by the same engineer who originally fitted it).
Ron Neville, managing director of the kitchen company, wryly observes, “We can’t make a bad chef good, but we can make any chef consistent! It’s a partnership, designing and installing the most appropriate equipment for each scenario, so it can deliver consistently and profitably. The Yorke Arms is a prime example: the kitchen we delivered for Frances combined good equipment such as a small range, a chargrill and fryer that were already there when she took over, integrated with items such as the 2.3m one piece cooking stove designed to her exact needs.”
Andrew Pern, co-owner and chef at The Star Inn at Harome, adds, “Being chosen as one of the top 10 gourmet hotels by the Good Hotel Guide is a valued accreditation. CHR’s kitchen in the hotel enables us to deliver superb quality food for every guest, every day, year on year.”
A family-run business, CHR’s portfolio to date includes projects such as Lancashire County Cricket Club, several Michelin star restaurants, Cadbury World, and staff restaurants for Next; the company has won CEDA (Catering Equipment Distributors Association) national awards for its work, two years in succession, demonstrating its consistency and quality.
