CHR EQUIPMENT LTD ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

1. Statement of underlying principles

  • CHR EQUIPMENT. will comply with all laws and regulations, national and international, including those which aim to protect the environment
  • We will seek to comply with all recognised codes of practice, including those which seek to minimise the company's impact on the environment
  • We will develop policies and procedures which enable it to comply with these obligations
  • We recognise that waste minimisation and conservation of resources entails the following elements:
  • Reuse and/or recycling of materials or equipment wherever possible and practical
  • Choice of materials to facilitate reuse or recycling facilities
  • Identifying and using recycling facilities
  • We recognise that the conservation of energy is an important element of an environmental policy
  • We recognise our obligation to minimise health risks to service users and our staff
  • We will endeavour to do business with organisations which have environmental and ethical policies in sympathy with our own
  • We recognise that there may, on occasions, be conflict between some of these principles

2. Energy Policies

  • We will encourage our staff to turn lights out when a room is not in use
  • We will ensure adequate maintenance, including a routine annual service, of our heating systems
  • We will ensure that internal temperatures are appropriate for the time of year
  • Staff will be encouraged to use public transport or vehicle share wherever feasible, though it is recognised that this might not always be practical because of time restraints and the availability of services.
  • Refrigerators, computers and similar equipment will be energy efficient items
  • We will not overfill kettles
  • We will not leave electrical items on standby
  • We will not leave computers on outside office hours unless operationally necessary
  • All vehicles will be serviced under a regular maintenance contract to ensure cost effectiveness, emission control and minimal wastage of fuels.

3. Waste Minimisation Policies
• Reports etc will be photocopied on both sides of the paper

• We will use recycled photocopying and printer paper wherever this is
compatible with operational needs
• We will purchase recycled toilet paper
• Waste recycling and separation will be encouraged wherever practicable.
4. Purchasing Policies not covered above
• We will not purchase or use aerosols
• We will aim to use eco-friendly cleaning products throughout our premises
• We will not purchase goods made of tropical hardwoods unless specified
by surveyors or architects
• We will not purchase products that contain ozone-depleting chemicals
• We will purchase wherever possible equipment that reflects the customers
best interests.

5. On site Practices

  • CHR Equipment Ltd recognises the need to be diligent in its approach to on site waste management, and will work closely with our clients to minimise the effect on the environment.
  • Chr equipment will remove all its own waste from site either by arranging with recognised waste removal companies or with the Main Contractor. Any waste brought away from site by our own or subcontracted employees to our own warehouse will be recycled wherever possible.
  • CHR Equipment will endeavour to minimise the use of fuel by means of good planning, and by the use of environmentally friendly products in our kitchen designs.

6. General Points

  • This policy will be available at all times within the company office for all staff.
  • A copy will be issued to partner organisations or clients on request
  • The policy, and practices arising from it, will be kept under regular review: the policy will be subject to a formal annual review

We recognise that aspects of the policy will have financial consequences for the company. if we therefore have to suspend aspects of the policy, we will set out the reasons
